The Bluff (Calamity Montana #2) by Willa Nash

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry writing as Willa Nash comes a small town Montana romance.

As Calamity’s newest resident, Everly Christian thought life in small-town Montana would be dull and tame—and she needs a little mundane after the last few chaotic years. But one night, boredom drives her to the local bar, where she finds herself sitting beside a handsome and mysterious artist.

The man is anything but dull and tame, especially in the bedroom, and when she steps out of his shower and overhears his conversation, life gets interesting again.

Reese Huxley needs a wife.

And why shouldn’t Everly be the bride?

She’s got her reasons for agreeing to the hasty nuptials—reasons she’s keeping to herself. As long as she can stop herself from falling in love with her husband, she’ll make it out of this sham marriage in one piece. But Everly has a weakness for wayward men, and the more Hux pushes her away, the more she realizes this bluff is anything but a lie.

“You need a wife.”

“It was a joke.”

She sipped the hot, black liquid. “Was it?”

Everly had this way of posing a question that contradicted everything. Like the first night we’d met at the bar and I’d told her she’d missed the excitement.

Did I?

One two-word question that had led me straight to her bed.

Well, this two-word question wasn’t going to lead me to the altar.

5 Stars

I'm calling it...my first 5 star read in 2021. The Bluff (Calamity Montana #2) is everything I love about this author. She truly is a master of telling a story and making you love the characters (no matter how broken then are!) and be invested in their lives. I couldn't put this book down and when it was over, I just wanted more.

Everly Christian is new to the small town in Montana, we briefly met her in the last book, as Lucy's best friend. They both went through a terrifying experience with a stalker and now Everly has decided to figure out her life while she stays in Calamity.

Reese Huxley is the elusive and broody man in town. He's a successful artist and keeps to himself, and only has focus in life - his daughter and art. But when he runs into the sassy Everly, his entire life changes.

Everly and Hux had chemistry from page one. They both were dealing with issues and being together - even if they didn't know it - really helped them overcome all their demons. As you know, Everly decides to help Hux by marrying him, but they both are set that this is just a ploy and then they will go their separate ways.

And you know, that won't be the case. As these two know they have hot chemistry in the bedroom, but soon to realize that their relationship goes beyond that. I can't say it enough - this is really one of my favorite books from this author. And I'm so excited and can't wait for me in the next book to get Kerrigan's story!
