Release Day Blitz & ARC Review: Harmony (The Club Girl Diaries) by Addison Jane

Harmony makes no excuses for who she is or what she’s done. For the past few years she’s been living as a club girl for the Brothers by Blood MC. The club girls are there for a purpose - to cook, to clean and to keep the men happy. She respects the club, respects the men and she follows the rules. Watching the men walk in and out of her life is strangely comforting, and a feeling she’s grown accustomed to. With a history of disappointments and false promises, all she wants is to have fun, play music and finish college. Being associated with the club, she can do that without having to risk her heart. That was until he showed up.

When Kit's father stepped down as president, he took the title with pride. The Brothers by Blood MC is his family, his home. Deciding to celebrate his new title with his brothers from a neighboring chapter, the last thing he expected was to find Harmony - a club girl with all the makings of a perfect old lady. The stunning blonde is beautiful, strong and fiercely independent. Harmony refuses to lower the walls she’s created around her heart, but the fire inside her and her love for the club fuel his need to have her by his side, and on the back of his bike.

When Harmony’s safety is threatened, Kit is determined to do whatever it takes to protect her and prove that she can trust him. But after a lifetime of broken promises, will it be enough?

4 Stars

What a great start to another MC series! I'm a huge fan of MC books, and Harmony is one to add to my favorites. Not only do we get dueling POVs from the heroine and hero, but the heroine isn't your typical girl who falls in love with an MC boy. She's a Club Girl. I love this story from Harmony's POV, which it makes it unique.

Being a Club Girl for the Brothers by Blood MC, means she's there to "cater" to the men, but she is respected by them. Harmony has the respect of these men and they are willing to protect her. She is bright, smart and knows who and what she is. Her and her best friend, Chelsea, have been Club Girls for years. She's going to college and knows to guard her heart with these guys. She's jaded about love and seen so many of the brothers cheat on their Ole' Ladies.

That's until Kit walks through the Club doors. Kit is an MC President of another chapter. He is immediately is attracted to her and knows she's just more than a Club Girl and will do anything to prove it. Kit is a typical MC President--he's dominant, total alpha and his Club and his brothers are his life. He just needs a woman who can handle it. And Harmony is the one.

As always, trouble follows the Club, putting Harmony and Chelsea in danger. These men will do anything to protect these ladies. This book takes you on a wild ride of guessing who the enemy is. It's filled with plenty of sexual attraction between the characters, angst and lots of drama.

And that ending...seriously? It left me hanging. I. Can't. Wait. For more on Optimus and Chelsea.

Blurb

We were born into the same crowd.
His father: a useless drunk. My mother: a psycho junkie.
We lived across the road from each other.
We became best friends when I was only ten.
He became my sole reason for breathing.

Seven years later, he forgot about me.

I don’t know the exact moment he changed.

Suddenly I was just the girl next door, and he no longer cared.
He didn’t want to be in my life. He didn’t want to help.
He ran off the rails, tossing me aside.
I no longer mattered. Nothing we shared did.

The next thing I knew – he was gone.

Ten years and I didn’t see or hear from him.

Then came the call I’d be waiting for – he was back in town.
Only the man I remembered is not him.
This man is quiet, deadly, and so incredibly beautiful.
He also doesn’t remember me.

I let him believe I’m just a girl that walked into his bar.

I let him believe I’m just a friend.
I let him use me on the cold, dark nights.
I let him believe I’m incapable of love, just like he is.
I just let the secret go on and on.

But all secrets have an end, don’t they?

Blog Tour Stop: Getting Played (Jail Bait, #2) by Mia Storm

**A standalone Jail Bait novel**

Rules of the game:
1) Never underestimate your opponent
2) Avoid personal fouls
3) Score early and often
4) Play or get played

Coach Marcus Leon has always played by the rules…until he meets Addaline Grace, the seventeen-year-old senior transfer on his Oak Crest High water polo team. Addie changes all the rules, mostly because she doesn’t play any games. But as off limits as she is, the more Marcus discovers about Addie, the more he finds himself…and the more he questions whether Addie Grace might just be worth risking everything for.

For Addie, water polo is anger management. She’s driven and focused because it keeps her mind off other things…like the fact she destroyed her family. Her game plan is to keep her head down and graduate so she can leave her father and the crappy town he dragged her to in her wake. But when what starts as friendly completion with Marcus turns into more than a game, Addie has to decided if she’s willing to face down her demons…and possibly ruin the man she may or may not be falling in love with in the process.

What happens when the only thing you need is the one thing you can’t have?

She glances down the hill in the direction I came from. “So, what’s going on down there, anyway? Someone’s birthday?”
My gaze follows hers. “My sister’s wedding reception.”
“In a public park?” she asks, her eyebrows raising in surprise.
I nod. “Graffiti Park is special. We spent a lot of time here as kids.”
“Graffiti Park? That’s really the name of this place?” she asks, looking around.
“I have no clue what the real name is. That’s just what we’ve always called it.” My thumb brushes over where Nate carved my name into the back of bench we’re sitting on at least ten years ago.
She squints toward the shelter below and shades her eyes from the last of the afternoon sun. “I don’t see a bride.”
I point to Blaire. “The one in the bright blue dress.”
“That sort of flies in the face of tradition, doesn’t it?” she asks, still watching.
“That’s my sister. She’s never cared much about social conventions. If you search YouTube for her valedictory graduation speech from Oak Crest High four years ago, you’ll see what I mean.”
Her eyes snap to mine, wide and curious, and her gaze knocks the wind out of me. “What did she say?”
“She basically told the whole world off. But that was because her now husband,” I say with a jut of my chin at the gathering below, “had just been arrested for statutory rape.”
Her eyes widen even more. “Oh my God!”
“She’s always insisted they were in love, and the age difference shouldn’t matter. It was her giant ‘fuck you’ to society.”
Her head cocks to the side as she watches the party below. “I like her already.” She turns back to me. “Won’t they miss you?”
I press myself against her shoulder. “I’m disturbing you?”
A sardonic smile ghosts over her features as she lifts the book. “I was in the middle of reading the thoughts of a dying giant bug-person and not thinking that was at all weird, so I’m obviously already very disturbed.”

ARC Review: Flirting with Scandal (Capital Confessions #1) by Chanel Cleeton

The author of I See London sets her sights on Washington, D. C., with a sexy new series about three sisters, the secrets they keep, and a powerful blog with a knack for exposing scandals...

Jackie Gardner knows all about dirty little secrets. The illegitimate daughter of one of the most influential senators in Washington, D.C., she grew up surrounded by the scandals and shadows of politics. Now that she's landed an internship with a powerful political consulting firm, she's determined to launch her career and take this city by storm.

William Andrew Clayton was born for politics. He knows the drill: work hard, play discreetly, and at all costs, avoid scandal. At twenty-six, his campaign for the Virginia State Senate is the first step to cementing his future. It's time for him to settle down, to find the perfect political spouse. He needs a Jackie Kennedy, not a Marilyn...

When Jackie meets Will in the bar of the Hay-Adams Hotel, sparks fly. But the last thing Will needs is to be caught in a compromising position, and an affair with a political candidate could cost Jackie her career. When what began as one steamy night, becomes a passion neither one of them can walk way from, they must decide if what they have is really love, or just another dirty little secret...

Book releases on May 19, 2015. Pre-order on Amazon!

5 Scandalous Stars!

This book has my vote for a great start in a new series! Flirting With Scandal is exactly what the title is--it's a hot political mess waiting to happen. And it did!

Jackie Gardner is a young, smart, savvy and beautiful young woman trying to make it in a male-dominant political world. She's driven to land a prestigious career at a well-known consulting firm and determined to make it own her own.  Jackie grew up in this life, knowing all the dirty little tidbits that the D.C. holds. And she herself is a dirty little secret, that she is determined to keep from the world.

Will Clayton is a hot, young, upcoming politician getting ready to run for the Virginia Senate. He's a great book boyfriend--Will is romantic and honest (for a politician), but has a dirty, hot mouth! I live in the Virginia and work in D.C., so Will would get my vote!

Jackie ends up working on Will's campaign after unexpectedly meeting beforehand. The attraction between these two is off the chart. They have great chemistry throughout this book. BUT...working for Will and having her own dirty secrets can expose the two of them and ruin their lives. Even with everything on the line, Will and Jackie can't seem to stop the attraction. They are willing to take the risks and face the consequences of their actions.

Flirting with Scandal is a scandalous, sexy and is full of political drama. I can't wait for more in this series with other characters. Yes, it's a HEA and doesn't end with a cliffhanger.

ARC Review: Getting Dirty (Jail Bait #1) by Mia Storm

Dirty
A poem by Blaire Leon

If sex is dirty, why would I do it with someone I love?
If sex is dirty, then didn’t we all come from the dirt?
What if I like the dirt?
What if I want to get dirty?
What if I want to roll in the mud until I’m so fucking filthy that I’ll never be clean again?

When twenty-five-year-old graduate assistant Caiden Brenner asked Blaire Leon how old she was, she said she was a senior. He chose to believe she meant in college. They connect over Lord Byron’s Don Juan and, as their conversations become increasingly thicker with sexual innuendo, Caiden finds himself obsessing over a totally off-limits undergrad who’s bold, beautiful, brilliant, and one of the most passionate poets he’s ever met.

But it turns out Blaire hasn't been totally honest. She's the seventeen-year-old valedictorian of her high school class, taking courses at Sierra State while awaiting her acceptance to Stanford.

Will Caiden get too deeply into Blaire to back away before he finds out the truth? Or will their connection be enough to seduce him into risking his entire future on Jail Bait?

 TBR

Without realizing I’m doing it, I find I’m leaning toward her. I catch myself and stop. But before I can pull back, she closes the rest of the distance and presses her lips hard against mine.
Any thought that I shouldn’t be doing this evaporates like fog in a stiff breeze at the taste of her mouth, moving hungrily on mine. She’s scotch and fire on my tongue as she devours me. Right or wrong, I’m powerless to stop her.
Her fingers run down my face to my chest as she opens her mouth wider, inviting me deeper inside. I take the invitation, tasting as much of her as she’ll give me. Her hands tug at the hem of my shirt and my breath catches when cold fingers meet my warm abs.
I press harder against her, drawing her closer, and fire rips through my veins as our tongues and hands explore the new landscapes of each other’s mouths and bodies.
But a shard of coherent thought finally manages to pierce the bubble I’ve constructed to justify what I’m doing. “You’re a student,” I say against her mouth.
Her lips skim to my ear. “I like you, Caiden,” she whispers, and her saying my name with that hot breath, that wet mouth, is nearly enough to break my resolve. “I like you a lot.”
I take her by the shoulders and gently peel her away, my heart hammering out African drumbeats against my ribcage. “You’re so damn incredible, but I can’t do this. It’s totally against university rules. I’m sorry.”
“You’re not my professor,” she says, her expression wounded. “If we like each other, I don’t see why it should matter.”
“I’m Dr. Duncan’s graduate assistant. My boss is your professor. It’s a conflict of interest, since I do most of his grading.”
“So you are conflicted.” It’s clear from the predatory shift her expression takes that she hears that I’m trying to convince myself as much as her.
I drop my head against the headrest. “I am.”

She leans closer again, her breast pressing against my arm through the thin cotton of her top. “I’ll never say anything. No one needs to know,” she whispers, her breath feathering over my neck.

3-3.5 Stars

Getting Dirty! That is what it's all about! Blaire is a high school student who's smart, knows what she wants and is mature than most girls her age. That's why Caiden, the twenty-five year grad student, took notice to her.

Caiden is the TA to Blaire's professor. He also works at the college library where he first takes notice of Blaire. Their first meeting is full of chemistry and temptation, but Caiden was hesitant to take things further, knowing that he is her TA. But let's just say there was a minor (and I mean big!) detail that was left out in their first meeting-- Blaire's a senior, but...in high school. Queue the ooohhhs...

I wasn't a huge fan of Blaire. She was young, but smart of enough to know what would happen to Caiden if they were caught (she even had this internal conversation with herself). But I guess knowing who your soul mate is takes over the risk of everything. These two danced around the attraction and finally gave in. And what happens with Caiden finds out her real age? Cue in the angst and drama!

What I did like about this story is that showed the consequences of their action. It was not all sweet with roses. They both paid for their actions.

Overall, Getting Dirty, is a fast read and has plenty of steams between the characters. And the end/epilogue was a HEA. I'm glad that it worked for these two!

But then life threw her another curveball. And when she once again began picking up the pieces, learning how to survive and rebuild after everything exploded, there was only one man still there, one man who remained by her side, showing her that sometimes life isn’t about learning how to survive…

Embrace picks up immediately after Entice ends. Laurie finds herself even more confused and betrayed by the men in her life. Liam is not who she think he is, but she still finds herself sexually attracted to him. And her husband, James, is being more persistent, sweet and not letting her give up on their marriage. And her father ends up throwing more drama into her life.

Laurie has curve balls thrown at her throughout this book. But the one constant (in my opinion and others may disagree) was her husband. I really felt for him. He was so full of regret, that all he wanted to do is make it right with Laurie and back to where they were. And Laurie wasn't perfect at all. She had her faults too. Her relationship with Liam I think, was worse than the one night her husband had.

Getting to know Liam more and his intentions, I wasn't a fan or felt a connection between him and Laurie. There were plenty of hot sexual chemistry between them, but she deserved more.

Embrace is a fantastic read that concludes the story of Laurie. Does she get her HEA and with who? I can say I'm happy how her story ended. And excited to see who gets their story next in the next book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
S. Layne currently lives in Minnesota with her husband and four children. ALL PLAYED OUT Excerpt:

Dallas and Dylan toss the disk back and forth a few times, and I groan when Carson and Silas make no effort to intercept or knock down the pass. I’m pretty sure it’s a distraction, so I stick tight to Brookes, and I notice Ryan edging closer to me, too. He must have the same idea.
Next thing I know, Dallas has sent the disk soaring over our heads, and when I look, Nell is standing alone, completely unguarded in the end zone.
She’s holding her hands out and staring at the disk like it’s a missile instead of a piece of plastic. I take off toward her in case she misses it. I want to grab the disk and get it back into play as soon as I can.
As I sprint, the disk slips right through her grasping fingers and nails her in the chest. She gasps; no doubt the air was knocked out of her. The disk ricochets, and if I dive I might can manage to catch it, but I can’t quite drag my eyes away from her chest. Her tits are practically spilling out of the top of the tiny tank she’s wearing. I’d had a front-row seat earlier with my arm around her. Now she’s clutching at herself in pain, but all I can see are her smooth, delicate arms pressed against the curve of her breasts, pushing them even higher.
I should look away before something very unfortunate occurs in my baggy gym shorts, but now I’m picturing that shy girl loosening up beneath me. It’s too easy to take those wide eyes she gave me when I draped my arm around her and imagine them in the low light of my room, her head on my pillow and her legs spread wide.
She makes a soft whimpering noise, and now the rest of my senses join the fantasy, and I think of how she would feel, taste, sound. I wonder just how low I could get her inhibitions. Enough to say my name? To scream it?
“Damn,” I groan, and try to clear my head. “You all right?”
She looks up at me, still clutching at her chest, and pink spreads over her cheeks. She doesn’t say anything.
“Okay,” I say. “There is honestly no way to ask this without sounding like a pig, so I’m not even gonna try. And really, in these situations, I find you might as well go balls to the wall and throw it all out there. So … at the risk of getting slapped, how are your tits?” I think about offering to check them out for her, but I figure that’s probably taking it a step too far.
Her mouth presses into a firm straight line. “It wasn’t my ...” She trails off.
“Tits,” I finish for her. “You have them. You can say the word.”
“It hit me in the collarbone, not the breasts.”
Breasts. I raise an eyebrow, and she rolls her eyes.
I take a step forward and say, “Let me see.”
“Absolutely not.”
I take another step, until my shadow falls over her, and take hold of one wrist. “As you pointed out, you weren’t hit in the breasts. Just let me have a look. With the right strength and good wind, a disk can go as fast as twenty miles per hour. I’ve seen them break fingers and noses.”
“Dude, Torres!” Silas shouts behind me. “What are you waiting for? Grab the disk and let’s go!”
Hesitating, I ask, “You wanna take a break? Catch your breath and let me see it?”
She shakes her head stubbornly. “I don’t want the game to stop because of me.”
I turn around and shout back to Silas, “Nell and I are taking a break. You guys keep playing with eight.”
Taking her elbow, I pull her off the field toward the picnic tables. She protests, but only mildly, and she still has one hand pressed just above her cleavage. And looking down at her, I can see moisture clinging to long lashes at the corner of her eye.
I sit her down so that her back is to the field, and go down on one knee in front of her. She’s so small that it puts us eye level, and I say softly, “Move your hand.”
“It’s fine,” she says. “Just give me a couple seconds, and I’ll be fine.”
You don’t grow up with five sisters without learning that sometimes with women, words are pointless. I reach out and move her hand myself, pulling it away from her chest. The skin just below her collarbone is an angry red, and the disk scraped through a couple layers of skin. Not enough to bleed, but I bet it hurts. “Tell me how it feels. Still a sharp pain? Or more of an ache?”
Her eyebrows slant over her pretty brown eyes. “The pain was sharp and steady for approximately thirty seconds, but now it kind of stings.”
“Like a slap,” I say.
She gives a short laugh, her shoulders bouncing once before she stills in what I’m guessing is pain. “I can’t say I know what that feels like. Though I’m not surprised it’s a sensation you’re familiar with.”
I shrug. “I don’t believe in censoring my thoughts. Some people just aren’t as fond of freedom of speech as I am.”
She shakes her head, and I think she’s trying not to smile.
I reach up my left hand and as lightly as possible run my thumb over the red mark. She sucks in a breath and I ask, “Hurts to the touch?”
“Um.” She swallows and blinks a few times.
“Does it hurt a lot?”
I brush my thumb over her skin again, even lighter this time, wondering if the Frisbee could have hit hard enough to crack something. There’s already a purpling around the center that tells me it’s going to bruise pretty good.
She swallows, and my eyes are drawn to the graceful slope of her neck, up to a small chin and full lips. And it hits me then … why this girl caught my eye from the moment she walked toward our group, why I can’t drag my eyes or my hand away from her now.
She reminds me of Lina.
And the memory of the only girl I’ve ever loved packs a punch so hard that it’s my turn to raise a hand to my chest to soothe an all-too-familiar ache.
