Fallen Jester (Tin Gypsy #5) by Devney Perry

Leo Winter loves his life. He works when he needs money. He rides when he craves freedom. He frequents the local bar when he wants a good time. The Tin Gypsies might be a memory, but the bachelor life he lived with his motorcycle club still suits him fine. So when a one-night stand surprises him at a family barbecue and claims she’s pregnant with his child, he’s certain he’s died and gone to hell.

Cassandra Cline took one night off from her structured life. One. And now her wild fling with the local bad boy has turned her life sideways. Her dreams and academic career are circling the drain, and none of it would have happened if she’d stayed far, far away from Leo.

Except avoiding him is impossible, especially when she’s forced to move home to Clifton Forge, Montana. And he refuses to leave her side when a series of strange accidents put her and their baby at risk. But are they accidents? Or is she standing in the middle of a battlefield she doesn’t understand?

Her only allies are people she barely knows. And a man who has the potential to steal her heart.

If only he’d stop playing the fool.

“What are you doing tomorrow?”

“Apartment hunting.” She yawned. “I’ve got an appointment at nine to meet a landlord.”

“How about you cancel it? Sleep in.”

“I sort of need a roof over my head.”

“Then take mine.” The words hurled past my lips.

“Huh?” She pushed herself up to a seat.

I gulped. Christ, what was I doing? “I’ve got a big house with three extra rooms. You could stay there for a while. Save some money. We could get to know each other.”

Cass blinked as her eyebrows knitted together.

“Yeah, I can’t believe I just said that either.” This woman was scrambling my brain.

“Want to take it back?”

“No,” I said without hesitation. “I mean it. If you want to save up, not live alone, you’re welcome at my place. You can check it out first if you want. Tomorrow.”

She continued to stare at me, her head tilting to the side as she tried to figure me out. When she did, I hoped she’d share the wealth.

I held my breath, not sure if I wanted her to say yes or no. Yes. No.

Yes. She was going to say no. I could feel it.

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Really?”

“Change your mind already?”

“No. Just . . . you never say what I think you’re going to say.”

She smiled. “You’ll get used to it.”

4 Stars

This series gets better and better. Leo and Cass are probably my favorite couple in the Tin Gypsy so far! We met Cassandra Cline in the Noble Prince, she happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - yup, she was kidnapped and thrown into the world of Tin Gypsy and not even know it.

Cass is a college student, who spends most of her time in the books. And after being home one night, she decides to do something wild. Something that is so not her - hooking up one night with Leo Winter. And that one night turns both of their lives upside down. It wasn't easy for Leo and Cass to adjust to this surprising news.

Leo is having trouble and wanting to be a father after they way he was raised, and Cass has the support of her parents and friends, and doesn't need (or thinks!) she needs Leo. As the two work out their differences, they eventually learn more about each other and even though they are complete opposites their chemistry is undeniable.

Fallen Jester is a sweet, heartfelt and emotional read where two people, who are complete opposite make it work for the better. And that ending! I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.

Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.

Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.

Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.

Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

From the New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read, a sparkling new novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.

4.5 Stars

This is the first book I read from this author and now I am a fan! I will now, go back to read her other books. People We Meet on Vacation is by far my favorite romance book of 2021. There's nothing sweeter and angsty to follow the story of two best friends, who are total opposite, slowly figure out they in love with each other. Soulmates. It may have taken years, but it was worth it!

Poppy and Alex are the definition of opposite attracts. The yin and yang. Salt and pepper. Ever since they met in college, these two were best friends, summer travel buddies. Even though the dated others over the years, they continued to have a platonic and fun-filled summer adventure. What I loved about this book is how the author takes you through the present and past years of their friendship.

These two characters were real and genuine. This author made me want to best friends with Poppy and find myself an Alex. This entire read, you just want to root for these two to find their happiness with each other. I loved their journey every summer and want to travel just like them.

A fantastic rom-com read that will have you swoon and dream of having your best guy friend turn into your one true love!
