Forsaken Trail (Runaway #4) by Devney Perry

Aria Saint-James has planned the perfect getaway: sweatpants, takeout and two weeks alone with her sister and nephew. Nowhere on that list is wearing a low-cut dress and uncomfortable heels to attend a wedding where she knows neither the bride nor the groom. Toss in her nemesis, Brody Carmichael, and her road trip to Arizona is officially a bust.

But at least there is champagne.

She blames the bubbly for falling into bed with Brody that night. Enemy or no, the billionaire is irresistible in a tux. But after their one-night tryst, Aria has no choice but to cut her vacation short, returning home to escape his devilish smile, vowing never to see Brody again.

Except Aria gets a surprise a few weeks later—she’s pregnant. When he learns that she’s carrying his child, Brody offers Aria the chance of a lifetime. The catch? She has to live under his roof until the baby is born.

Either they’ll kill each other in nine months. Or discover love buried beneath their hate.

Aria gave me a small smile, but as we took another step, it changed.
Twisted. The fire in her gaze sparked even brighter. The mischievous
woman whose words cut like a Samurai sword was ready for the show.

Her hand let go of my arm to slide down the sleeve of my tux jacket.
Aria laced her fingers with mine as her other hand snaked up my chest.
She inched so close that her scent, floral and sweet, filled my nose.

That intoxicating smell scrambled my brain and I couldn’t tear
my eyes away from the curls in her shiny hair. I wanted to
twist them around my fingers, then take the strands in my fist and—

What. The. Fuck.

This was Aria. A woman who openly admitted she hated me
the way I hated her. An enemy. My assistant’s sister.

There’d be no fisting of her hair. No licking of her lips. No nibbling of her ears.

4 Stars

Another great read in the Runaway series! Forsaken Trail, probably is my favorite one so far (but I'm sure I said that about the last three books in this series). If you are a fan of enemy - turned - accidentally pregnancy - turned - lovers, then this book is for you! Oh, don't forget to throw in a sexy, wealthy and stubborn man!

Aria Saint-James has been living her life in Oregon - content. She loves her job working with flower and plants, has an unbreakable bond with her twin sister, Clara, and nephew, but there is something lacking in her life.

Brody Carmichael, is her twin's boss and good friend. But he happens to be Aria's nemesis. She's thankful for everything he's done for Clara and her son, but she can't stand the arrogant man. And when she ends of doing her sister a favor, she entire life changes in one night.

You guessed it - Aria is pregnant with Brody's child.

Their story is all opposite attracts and opening themselves up to each other. As much as these two dislike each other, their chemistry and attraction was always there. Their story will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions,
as these two navigate upcoming parenthood and feelings for each other. Broday and Aria learn from each other and ultimately make each other better.

Up next is Clara's story and honestly I can't wait until she makes it to Cali!

In this steamy, addictive contemporary romance spinning off the New York Times bestselling Dream Man and Rock Chick series, Ryn Jansen must put her trust in the one man she wants -- and the one man she can't let herself have.

Ryn Jansen has no interest in taking a risk on Boone Sadler. Thanks to a long list of men who've done nothing but let her down, Ryn vows to stay far away from the caring, protective commando. And when Boone confronts Ryn with evidence that her loved ones are conning her, Ryn is less than thrilled -- with her family and Boone. But even as Boone proves he's the kind of guy to meet her every need, she doesn't trust him to stay when life gets hard . . .

Boone Sadler's never been one to back down from a challenge. He's determined to show the funny, sexy Ryn that the irresistible connection between them is worth exploring. But caring for Ryn's heart and body becomes a matter of life and death when Ryn's beloved niece and nephew are put in danger and dirty cops begin gunning for Ryn. Soon Boone realizes their romance is in danger of more than heartbreak -- and to have any future together, they'll have to put their trust in each other.

4 Stars

I love this book and series, it gives me all the Hot Bunch and Rock Chick vibes. But now, it's the Dream Team and they couldn't get into more crazy trouble and have their men help save the day!

Dream Chaser has all the Kristen Ashley throwbacks - the usual funny, romantic , steamy and feel-good story in a book. And don't forget the ultra alpha male and Boone Sadler is all that!  Boone is determined to win and charm over Ryn. Ryn finds herself putting her family first and those who don't give in return. But Boone is determined to change that and show her that she deserves it all for working hard and having a caring heart.

But bossy and sexy Boone is the last thing Ryn needs in her life - she knows that if she has something good, it will eventually leave and leave her heartbroken. Not only is Boone trying to break her walls down, but someone is also trying to hurt her and that's when Boone is determined to protect Ryn.

Noble Prince (Tin Gypsy #4) by Devney Perry

The night Luke Rosen met Scarlett Marks was the only time he’s regretted becoming chief of police. One horrific night of blood and death, and now she’s living under his roof—all because he swore an oath to serve and protect.

Scarlett is stubborn and infuriating. She has no respect for the order in his structured life, and she never does anything she’s told. Worse, she doesn’t seem to care that the information she has on a motorcycle gang means she might end up dead. But her unwavering strength, her courage and tenacity and beauty, makes it impossible for him to abandon her.

If Luke is going to keep her safe, he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life. He can either honor his values as a cop, knowing Scarlett is unlikely to survive . . . or he can break all the rules and protect the woman who’s invaded his home and his heart.

“If you’re not going to get out of the way, I’ll just go around.” I spun on my shoes, whirling the opposite direction, but when I went to take a step and carry my basket away, I suddenly found its weight missing from my arm. He’d stolen it from me before I’d had the chance to clutch it tight.

Then the world was spinning. The floors, the ceiling, everything flipped topsy-turvy.

I’d fainted.

No, that wasn’t right.

I was being carried. Hauled. That had been Luke’s threat and damn it, I’d underestimated him. The chief had made good on his word.

His shoulder dug into my belly as he walked. I lifted my face, pushing the hair out of my eyes. My basket of food sat exactly where I’d been standing. My chicken and rolls and cookies and chocolate milk. The items grew smaller with every one of Luke’s strides.

“Put me down.”

He kept walking.

“Put me down!” I shouted.

Still, he kept walking.

I lifted a hand and raised it above my head. My hair kept falling in front of my face, obscuring my vision, but that didn’t stop me from using every ounce of strength I had left. I brought my fist down on Luke’s lower back. Except my aim was shit so I didn’t hit his back. No, my fist bounced off his firm, perfect ass.

Luke didn’t so much as break his stride. “I promised Presley I’d keep you safe.”

And without another word, without stopping, he carried me in a fireman’s hold out of the grocery store and into the snow.
I was going back to the daisies, whether I wanted to or not.

Hello, Scarlett. I’m rock bottom.

4.5 Stars

This series can go on forever as far as I'm concerned! I love the storylines, the mystery and of course the hot chemistry between all the characters.

Scarlett Marks, ugh, my heart broke for this girl. She tried to do what's best and she just kept getting mixed up in wrong situations. And the only person, who is able to pull her out, was none other than that town cop, Luke Rosen.

We briefly met Scarlett, who is Presley's sister in the previous books. She got caught up in a mess that her Ex left her in. And now his club, Arrowhead Warriors, are after her and is in danger. Which brings us to why Scarlett is under the protection of Luke. Luke is trying to build trust and find out the truth with Scarlett.

Throughout this book, we get to see and feel the connection and trust built up between Scarlett and Luke - these two were so opposite, but a perfect fit. I loved how it wasn't a fast romance, it's a slow build. And the mystery and suspense in these books keep you on your toes.

As always, Ms. Perry teases you with the characters in the next book and I'm so ready for Leo and all his drama!

The Bribe (Calamity Montana #1) by Willa Nash

Duke Evans didn’t expect to interrupt a beautiful woman in a staring contest with a bison on his favorite hiking trail. He also didn’t expect to see her again after rescuing her from the surly beast. As the sheriff in Calamity, Montana, he’s had his fair share of surprises but none as pleasant as pulling over a shiny black car and finding his mysterious hiking companion behind the wheel.

Only, she lied to Duke. She gave him a name as fake as her hair color. According to her driver’s license, her real name is Lucy Ross, the famous country music singer whose sudden disappearance has been a hot topic in the media over the past two weeks.

He’s not sure why Lucy lied about her identity or why she’s in Calamity. And she’s not talking. Instead, she offers him a bribe to keep her secret.

But Duke doesn’t want her money. He wants to know why this woman is on the run. And as long as the star shines on his badge, he’s going to find out.

4 Calamity Stars

Who doesn't love a small town romance between the town's sheriff and a mysterious new woman in town? Throw in some suspense and chaos and then you have a fabulous read you can't put down.  The Bribe is a great start in this new series and I'm ready for more.

Lucy Ross, one of the most famous country star, life has been turned upside and down and she's ready to hide from the paparazzi and the world. She wants to remain hidden in Calamity, Montana, but a certain Sheriff, won't let her go and wants answers.

Duke Evans, Calmity's Sheriff, life is about to go from quiet to chaos with the mysterious Lucy living in his town. There's something about Lucy's sassiness and then offering him an outrageous bribe that has Duke wanting more. And the truth.

Overall, The Bribe, is a sweet and swoony romance that has plenty of funny and serious moments. This book is set in a charming small town that I  wish I can pack my bags and leave the chaos of an overcrowded city. The secondary characters also rounds out this book and I'm hoping to get more of them in the next books.

Rifts and Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry

4.5 Rock Stars

This book. Oh wow. Not only do I love a great second chance story about childhood sweethearts (and single dads!), but the family dynamic of the Montgomery's - had me tearing up! The relationship Quinn had with her family - truly broke my heart and was put back together by the end. There is not a book from this author that I don't love. Every single book that Ms. Perry publishes - I just can't stop loving. Another fantastic read.

Quinn Montgomery is a Rock Star. A Rock Goddess. She's the drummer in one of the most popular bands - she has it all - the money, fame and fortune. But that's just material things. She's brokenhearted inside by her past life, over her family and the one boy who got away.

Graham Hayes never gotten over Quinn, but he's still angry and hurt over the way Quinn left. And now, she's back home after a family tragedy and she's the last person Quinn wants to see.

Quinn being back home is uncomfortable, her goal is to keep a low profile while she pays respect to her Nan. But that doesn't happen when her family and Quinn doesn't make it easy for her.

This book is all about second chances between family and true love. Honestly, the relationship between Quinn and her father had me in tears. Literally, crying into my Kindle. This is a fabulous read and just another favorite from my favorite author. Looking forward to more in this series by other authors!

"Remember when we used to lie in the back of my truck and count stars?”

“You’d count one, then I’d count one. I think the highest we ever got was—”

“Two hundred seventy-one.”

She laughed. “We’d get bored and start making out.”

I stepped away from the door, turning my head to the heavens so I wouldn’t stare at her lips. “One.”

She moved closer. “Two.”

“Three.” I dropped my gaze and found hers waiting.

“Four,” she whispered.

Five came when my lips brushed against hers, slow and soft at first, teasing and testing. But then her arms wound around my shoulders and all rational thought disappeared.

Release Blitz: Kane by Sawyer Bennett

I have a problem.

Potential problem?

I’m not really sure. Here’s the deal.

There’s this girl—isn’t that how it always starts?—and her name is Mollie. I like her. I mean really like her. I hope that doesn’t make me seem less manly than my professional hockey player persona implies. But here’s the issue—she’s my best friend. The one person I can count on for everything, who’s been there with me for all the moments, big and small.

When Mollie shows up at my door, travel weary and scared following an incident with an ex, my instinct to protect her goes into overdrive. It’s then that I know she’s more than just my best friend and the skates are swept out from under me when I find out she feels the same way.

Our transition from friends to lovers to potentially something more is seamless, the Arizona Vengeance is back on the ice looking for a repeat championship, and my life has never been better. Just when I think I’ve got it all figured out, the realities of us both having careers which keep us on the road put our blossoming relationship on ice.

It feels like the game just went into overtime and I’m on the verge of either the biggest win or most disappointing loss of my life. And losing is never an option.

5 AMAZING STARS

I was up until 4am finishing this book and knowing I had to work in the morning (ok, I work from home because of the 'Rona), but still... I had to be up to be online -  and I could not put this book down! Do I have regrets staying up this late to finish Leo? Absolutely not! As always, Ms. McLean does it again. She pulled every emotion out of me while reading this - it was an emotional roller-coaster  getting to know Mia and Leo. There were so many sweet, heartbreaking and emotional twists to their love story!

Oh these Preston boys... each of these boys face a hardship, but end up on top - it just takes heartache, pain and heartbreak to get there. And Leo Preston is not different. Leo has grown up in a busy home, with plenty of siblings. All he wanted was to find some peace away from the chaos. And when Mia Kovács, the quiet and peculiar girl, who comes live on their property with her mother -  every summer, changed his life forver.

Mia had a life where her Mother ignored her and her father left her, and the only constant in her life was her grandpa. And every summer, she went to stay with her mom and it was always the worst and best moments of her life. Mia and Leo started secret friendship over the years. They understood each other. It was connection that nobody else seem to get. Over the years, they had their ups and down. Mostly downs, but there was moment that changed it all and Leo will do anything to protect Mia.

Gah. I can't even tell you how much I loved this book!
