Rifts and Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry

From the moment Quinn Montgomery sat behind her first snare and cymbal set, she was destined for fame and glory. As Hush Note’s infamous female drummer, she sets the rhythm for the band’s chart-toppings hits. When people tap their feet to their music, it’s to her pulse.

Quinn is content to live in a world away from her family and the cage of her youth. Her only regret is leaving Graham Hayes behind without a goodbye. No matter how many sold-out stadiums she plays, no matter how many crowds sing her songs, his voice haunts her when the music stops.

When a family tragedy forces her to return home to Montana, she plans to leave the second she’s paid her respects. But seeing Graham again turns her life upside down. As a boy, he wasn’t able to make her stay. As a man, he might be her future.

If they can mend their rifts and find solace in the refrains.

4.5 Rock Stars

This book. Oh wow. Not only do I love a great second chance story about childhood sweethearts (and single dads!), but the family dynamic of the Montgomery's - had me tearing up! The relationship Quinn had with her family - truly broke my heart and was put back together by the end. There is not a book from this author that I don't love. Every single book that Ms. Perry publishes - I just can't stop loving. Another fantastic read.

Quinn Montgomery is a Rock Star. A Rock Goddess. She's the drummer in one of the most popular bands - she has it all - the money, fame and fortune. But that's just material things. She's brokenhearted inside by her past life, over her family and the one boy who got away.

Graham Hayes never gotten over Quinn, but he's still angry and hurt over the way Quinn left. And now, she's back home after a family tragedy and she's the last person Quinn wants to see.

Quinn being back home is uncomfortable, her goal is to keep a low profile while she pays respect to her Nan. But that doesn't happen when her family and Quinn doesn't make it easy for her.

This book is all about second chances between family and true love. Honestly, the relationship between Quinn and her father had me in tears. Literally, crying into my Kindle. This is a fabulous read and just another favorite from my favorite author. Looking forward to more in this series by other authors!

"Remember when we used to lie in the back of my truck and count stars?”

“You’d count one, then I’d count one. I think the highest we ever got was—”

“Two hundred seventy-one.”

She laughed. “We’d get bored and start making out.”

I stepped away from the door, turning my head to the heavens so I wouldn’t stare at her lips. “One.”

She moved closer. “Two.”

“Three.” I dropped my gaze and found hers waiting.

“Four,” she whispered.

Five came when my lips brushed against hers, slow and soft at first, teasing and testing. But then her arms wound around my shoulders and all rational thought disappeared.

Release Blitz: Kane by Sawyer Bennett

I have a problem.

Potential problem?

I’m not really sure. Here’s the deal.

There’s this girl—isn’t that how it always starts?—and her name is Mollie. I like her. I mean really like her. I hope that doesn’t make me seem less manly than my professional hockey player persona implies. But here’s the issue—she’s my best friend. The one person I can count on for everything, who’s been there with me for all the moments, big and small.

When Mollie shows up at my door, travel weary and scared following an incident with an ex, my instinct to protect her goes into overdrive. It’s then that I know she’s more than just my best friend and the skates are swept out from under me when I find out she feels the same way.

Our transition from friends to lovers to potentially something more is seamless, the Arizona Vengeance is back on the ice looking for a repeat championship, and my life has never been better. Just when I think I’ve got it all figured out, the realities of us both having careers which keep us on the road put our blossoming relationship on ice.

It feels like the game just went into overtime and I’m on the verge of either the biggest win or most disappointing loss of my life. And losing is never an option.
