ARC Review: Paper Princess (The Royals, #1) by Erin Watt

From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.

These Royals will ruin you…

Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.

Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.

Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.

He might be right.

Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.

4 Star

There's nothing more irritating than spoiled, rich kids, who believe rules don't apply to them. And that is exactly who the Royals are. AND I loved everything about them...all the lies, sex, mystery, and just all-around cockiness of this family!

Ella Harper is seventeen years old and trying to make it on her own. After losing her mother to cancer, Ella survived so far by trying to finish high school and working as a dancer to pay her bills. She's determined to graduate, go to college, get a job and become a "normal" girl.

That's until Callum Royal shows up and rocks Ella's entire world by shocking news. Next thing she knows, she's living in a mansion, attending a prestige school and has things handed to her on a silver platter. But all good things, come with a catch, or just say five Royal brothers who are determined to make her life hell in her new home. Especially, Reed Callum, the handsome brother, who seems to be the leader of the brothers.

The Royal boys run the house and the school. Callum Royal, the father, has lost control and respect from his sons. But he's determined to make them and Ella happy (let's just say this dude is clueless!).

Living with the Royal's, has made Ella sassy and able to stick up for herself. But looking tough on the outside, it hurts Ella on the inside. She takes a lot of crap from the spoiled brats at her school and at home. But the push and pull from Reed  has  her confused. The attraction between the two is intense, but confusing all at the same time.

Paper Princess is a fantastic read that makes you want to root for Ella, because this girl has gone through so much in her life. And then it makes you want to love Reed Callum on one page, then hate him on the next page. And yes, the ending of this book, leaves your mouth wide open and say "WTF?" I will be patiently waiting for the next book...
