I was a son, A friend, A brother, A psychopath.
Eighteen years of being in a psyche ward; I was released into the world. Things have changed, Blake is married to Melody and is a father to my new fixation, Cereus.
My beautiful niece who knows nothing of my existence. When consequences of past sins begin playing tricks on me, old cravings demand to be satisfied.
There is no cure for my kind of sickness.
I am void of everything but obsession.
I can’t love,
I can’t feel,
I am Desolate.
My mind is blown! This series is amazing and I want more! We get the POV of Ryan, Blake and Melody.
This book takes place eighteen years after Empathy. We immediately get in the mind of Ryan and how he's been dealing with being "locked up" and getting ready for his release into the public.
Melody and Blake are happily married with a teen daughter, Cereus. Cereus lives blissfully unaware of her parents' past--their past with Ryan. But Ryan, being Ryan, has his ways on keeping tabs on his brother and family throughout the years.
Finding out that his brother is about to be released and is determined "sane," Blake isn't sure he wants his wife and daughter know about Ryan's release. Their safety is his concern. But keeping this secret from Melody and Cereus, causes a series of chaos and mystery.
At first, I was a bit hesitant about the infatuation that Ryan has with his niece. So let me just say--it's nothing at all sexual. They both have this unique, strange bond between the two and continues throughout the book.
Desolate is full of surprises, mystery and plenty of OMG moments.
Ryan is a fantastic character. He's such a brilliant manipulator, but there's just something about him that I really liked!
I loved how we got everyone's POV: Ryan, Blake and Mel. It flowed seamlessly.
