ARC Review: Nuts (Hudson Valley #1) by Alice Clayton

From New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love—but is it to stay, or to go?

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

4 stars

I'm a huge fan of Ms. Clayton's books. She knows how to write romantic, a little bit angst-filled and lots of steamy-filled scenes with plenty of humor. And Nuts is another fantastic hit in this new series and I can't wait to read more!

Roxie Callahan, private chef to Hollywood stars, finds herself heading back home to Hudson Valley, where she vowed to herself she'd never return. It's the small town that she grew up in and was determined to move far away from. But after a disastrous mishap in LA, she's heading back home to help her mother with the family diner. I have to say, Roxie drove me 'nuts' throughout this book. Yes, she moved on to a better, more adventurous life in LA, but I just felt that she thought she was better than her town that she grew up in and I hated the way she treated her mother. Don't get me wrong, she wasn't horrible to her mother, their banter was fun and it worked for them!

Once she's back home, Roxie takes over the diner, while her mother is off on her adventure and she ends up in Leo's "nuts." Ok, more than in his lap.

Sparks fly between Roxie and Leo. But Roxie isn't into relationships and having Leo around is the perfect summer fling for her while she's back home. But as we all know, summer flings can lead to more. And Leo and his nuts could be a reason for Roxie to stay! Nuts is a fun, quick, and humorous read. Looking for more in The Hudson Valley series.
