Code Name: Ghost (Jameson Force Security #5) by Sawyer Bennett

I knew the risks of this job when I signed on with Jameson Force Security. Knew my time as a marine would prepare me for the danger I would face. But no amount of training could have ever prepared me for the helplessness of watching my teammates die, the agonizing mental and physical pain of torture, or the despair of captivity.

Returning home to Pittsburgh following a mission gone wrong, I am riddled with guilt and haunted by nightmares. I spend my days trying to regain the parts of myself I lost in that desert, the pieces that made me the Malik Fournier I once was. While the physical effects of my torture are fading, the emotional ones are proving much more stubborn and I find solace from the last person I should ever seek such comfort.

Anna Tate lost even more than I did in that mission. Now a widow and a single mom to the daughter she gave birth to shortly after her husband’s death, Anna offers me comfort I don’t deserve. As my feelings for Anna grow, I worry that once she learns the truth about what happened, she’ll turn her back on me.

I pull her to me just as tightly as I push her away. Hoping this forbidden love will save me from the ghost I’ve become.

4 Stars

I feel like I've been waiting for Malik Fournier's story forever and now it's here! Code Name: Ghost, the fifth book in the Jameson Force Security did not disappoint me at all.  We finally get to know what happened to Malik and if he safe or alive after being captured on a mission a few books back!

Malik and Anna Tate are two very broken characters, who lived through a tragic event and are continuing to figure out how to move on and learn to live again.

Anna, who was pregnant at the time and lost her husband in a mission overseas while working for Jameson Security, is dealing with widow-hood and being a single mom. She's been working at Jameson and has the full support of the team. She's also been invested in the capturing and recovering of Malik, who was on the same mission when her husband was killed.

Wild Highway (Runaway, #2) by Devney Perry

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, second chance romance.

Gemma Lane built an empire. Not a small feat, considering her home as a teenager was a makeshift tent in a California junkyard. She’s dedicated her life to turning pennies into millions. She has power, fortune and prestige.

And she’s leaving it all behind.

Gemma is headed across the country in her best friend’s Cadillac when a detour in Montana reunites her with old acquaintances and a man who hasn’t changed. Easton Greer challenges her every word and tests her every limit because he doesn’t believe she’s really abandoned her riches. She ignores his snide remarks and muttered censure—until the day she’s ready to return to the wild highway, and Easton taunts her to stay.

She’ll prove to him she’s not just running back to her wealthy life, that she’s more than her money. She’ll unlock her guarded heart and hope that this time around, he’ll treasure the key.

I opened the door, a smile still on my face, and collided, headfirst, with a wall of muscle.
“Oh, sorry.” I looked up and my heart stopped.

The smell of leather and aftershave filled my nose. I looked up to see a pair of dark brown eyes hooded by long, onyx lashes. I took in the straight nose, the sharp jaw and strong chin. My gaze dropped to the full lips I’d tasted once, on a night eleven years ago.

I’d never seen a face as symmetrical and so beautifully masculine as Easton Greer’s.
Even when he scowled, like he was now, it was a wonder.

He’d gotten even more handsome. How was that possible? He’d transformed from a young man to just a man, man. Rugged and rough and sexy.

“Gemma.” My name came out as a growl in his deep voice and I tore my gaze away from his mouth, taking a step back.

“Hi,” I breathed, the air heavy and thick.

He took a step away, then another, his glare unwavering.

Easton cast his scowl over his shoulder and spotted the Cadillac. “That yours?”

“Yes.”

“You’re staying here.” Not a question. An accusation. If he had it his way, I’d be uninvited.

I lifted my chin. “Yes, I came to see Katherine.”

His jaw ticked. “I thought we’d gotten rid of you years ago.”

Ouch. I guess he was still pissed about that whole sex in his room and waking up to find me gone.

But, good or bad, he hadn’t forgotten me.

4 Stars!

I loved this book. My favorite so far in this series (sure there is only two so far, but it just get better and better!). I'm big fan of second chances and it's exactly what Wild Highway gave me.

We met Gemma Lane in the previous book, who is Londyn's best friend and also part of the Runaway/Junkyard crew from back in their childhood. Gemma had a rough life in the beginning, but she worked her way up and made a name for herself and ultimately became a millionaire.

Gemma has a lot of guilt for leaving her friends behind, while she became successful. So when she takes the road trip up to Montana to find forgiveness from an old friend, Katherine, and others they she left behind in Montana. Including Easton Greer, the hunky cowboy, who she also had feelings for.

Easton can't believe Gemma is back in Montana after all these years. She up and left everyone, who helped and took her in. Easton knows that Gemma is known to run and she'll be gone soon, so he doesn't need to run into her for long. But avoiding her is hard.

As Gemma rekindles her friendship with Katherin, she's also trying not to rekindle things with Easton. But her feelings for him are still strong, but he doesn't make it easy for her, since he's still hurt and angry.

Even though Gemma is successful, she's still lost at life and what she wants. Making this trip out to Montana and to her past, helps her heal and find happiness. Not only is Wild Highway a sweet read about small town romances, it's about about forgiveness and moving on. And it shows that it doesn't mean that all the money in the world is going to truly make you happy in life!

I'm so ready for Katherine's story in the next book!

The Player Next Door by K.A. Tucker

From the international bestselling author of The Simple Wild and Ten Tiny Breaths comes a new second-chance, hate-to-love romance.

Scarlet Reed has returned to Polson Falls, convinced that twelve years away is long enough to shed her humiliating childhood identity as the town harlot's daughter. With a teaching job secured and an adorable fixer-upper to call home, things in her life are finally looking up.

That is, until she finds out that Shane Beckett lives next door.

Shane Beckett, the handsome and charismatic high school star quarterback who smashed her heart. The lying, cheating player who was supposed to be long gone, living the pro football dream and fooling women into thinking he's Prince Charming. Shane Beckett, who is as attractive as ever and flashing his dimples at her as if he has done no wrong.

Scarlet makes it abundantly clear that old wounds have not been forgotten. Neighbors they may be, but friends they most certainly are not. She won't allow herself to fall for the single father and firefighter again, no matter how many apologies he offers, how many times he rushes to her aid, or how hard he makes her heart pound.

But as she spends more time with him, she begins to fear that maybe she's wrong. Maybe Shane has changed.

And maybe this time she's the one playing herself—out of a chance at true happiness.

The Dare (Briar U #4) by Elle Kennedy

College was supposed to be my chance to get over my ugly-duckling complex and spread my wings. Instead, I wound up in a sorority full of mean girls. I already have a hard time fitting in, so when my Kappa Chi sisters issue the challenge, I can’t say no.

The dare: seduce the hottest new hockey player in the junior class.

Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy.

Even crazier, now he wants to keep pretending. Turns out Conor loves games, and he thinks it’s fun to pull the wool over my frenemies’ eyes.

But resisting his easy charm and surfer-boy hotness is darn near impossible. Though I’m realizing there’s much more to Conor’s story than his fan club can see.

And the longer this silly ruse goes on, the greater the danger of it all blowing up in my face.

“Thank you,” she breathes the moment we’re alone.

“No problem. Mind if I make myself comfortable?”

“Um, yeah. I mean, no. I don’t mind. Sit if you want. Or—wow, okay, you’re lying down.”
I grin at her visible nervousness. It’s cute. While I stretch out my six-foot-two frame amid the stuffed animals and decorative pillows on the bed, she remains the startled rabbit plastered against the door and breathing heavily.

“Gotta be honest,” I tell her, entwining my hands behind my head, “I’ve never seen a girl so unhappy to be locked in a bedroom with me.”

This has the desired effect of loosening her shoulders and even eliciting a shy smile. “I have no doubt.”

“I’m Conor, by the way.”

She rolls her eyes. “Yeah, I know.”

“What’s the eyeroll for?” I ask, playing wounded.

“No, sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it. Just, I know who you are. You’re, like, campus famous.”

The more I watch her, hands braced at her sides against the door, one knee bent, dirty-blonde hair a little messy and draped over one shoulder, I can’t help picturing myself holding her arms above her head while I explore her body with my mouth. She’s got very kissable skin.

“Taylor Marsh,” she blurts out, and I realize I don’t know how long we were silent until then.

I scoot to the far side of the bed and put a pillow beside me as a divider. “Come on. If we’re going to be in here awhile, let’s at least make friends.”

Taylor laughs out a breath and with it she releases a bit more tension. She’s got a nice smile. Bright, warm. It takes a bit more coaxing, however, to get her on the bed.

“This isn’t like a move,” she tells me, lining up stuffed animal guards to patrol the pillow wall between us. “I’m not some sort of weirdo who tricks men into getting in bed with her and then mauls them.”

“Sure.” I nod with mock seriousness. “But a little mauling would be okay.”

4 Stars

One of my favorite series is back and The Dare did not disappoint. When a college dare turns into an unexpected and fake relationship - it will have you cheering and laughing at this couple - Conor Edwards and Taylor Marsh.

The Dare is nothing but short with college drama, humor and a sweet and sexy story line. When Taylor Marsh's mean girl sorority sisters dare her to hook up with one of the Briar U's hottest hockey player, Taylor walks up to Conor Edwards asking him to play along.

Conor Edwards is on the Briar's U hockey team. He's a transfer from Cali and immediately connected with his teammates and when Taylor asks him to play along, he was game. Conor is sweet and stayed that way throughout the book. He was willing to help Taylor, and ended up striking up a tight friendship (or more...) with her.

These two had instant chemistry from the beginning despite the insecurities that Taylor had. But Conor was determined to break her walls down and build up her self-esteem no matter what it takes.

The Dare will take you through from their fake relationship, friends, to a real relationship, but not without many dramas!
