The Dandelion by Michelle Leighton

At thirty-five, Abigail Simmons has mastered only one thing—running. When tragedy strikes, she runs. This time her urge to flee brings Abi back to her hometown, where she hopes she can find the peace she’s always searched for. That hope is dashed when Abi’s ex, Sam Forrester, bumps his way back into her life.

Sam has flourished in ways Abi hasn’t. From the outside, he has it all—a successful medical practice, a beautiful daughter, and a charming wife.

Who is dying.

Sara Forrester is dying and her final wish is for Sam to find love again so she can meet the woman who will finish raising her daughter and grow old with her husband. Abi seems like the perfect fit, but what Sara doesn’t know is that Abi has a secret, a secret no one could guess.

And it’s a deal breaker.

Just a warning: Do not read this book while commuting to work on a train, surrounded by people. Because you'll start to tear up and look like a crazy person -- crying over a book.

I love this book! The Dandelion is filled with so much emotion, heartbreak, heartwarming and shocking moments. A fantastic read! As you know from the synopsis, Abi is back in her hometown, but she's not the same girl who left. She's now a woman with secrets and her first love, Sam, is still there but married and with a sweet daughter.

Sam seemed to have it all. He's a doctor and has a beautiful family. But behind closed doors Sam and his family are dealing with heartbreak and eventually tragedy. His wife, Sarah, is dying and her final wish before she goes, is for Sam and their daughter to find love again. Basically, she's searching for a girlfriend for him.

Abi and Sam have a past. A connection that was deep when they were younger and Sara sees that immediately, when she befriends Abi, when she is back in town. Sam loves his wife and daughter fiercely, but Abi has also had a part of his heart. The more time Abi spends with the Forrester, she falls more with Sam and his daughter and is moved by Sara's wish for her family.

I can't even tell you how this story unfolds, it's just read you need to experience yourself. It's far from a love triangle. The Dandelion will show you how a tragedy can turn into something peaceful and beautiful. This book is seriously one of the best read for 2018!
