Review of Destroyed

Where to begin with this twisted complicated book. It was mysterious and heartbreaking all in one.

Destroyed grabbed me from the very beginning. Obsidian Fox is a club owner, not just any club, but an underground, illegal fighting world club. He's scarred, tatted and a bit scary. He has such a dark, mysterious past that we don't know what it is--which makes his character really interesting.


He meets Hazel Hunter, a beautiful woman, who is also hiding secrets of her own. Hazel is dealing with a lot of personal issues, but she is fierce and strong. Fox is immediately drawn to Hazel and offers her an opportunity she can't seem to resist. Their first encounter was so intense--I loved it.

But this opportunity is too good to be true...their "relationship" becomes complicated, volatile and challenging. There are so many issues and secrets between the two--it was a constant push and pull. But for some reason, they complemented each other and deep down, also needed one another. So that just left me rooting for them to make it work. I wanted these two to have a HEA (they did get there, eventually!), but it wasn't without facing their demons and having a heartbreaking tragedy hit them. 

It's hard not to spoil their secrets, so it's a must read for all to find out. Destroyed is a great read that keeps you on your toes till the very end. And I LOVED the epilogue!

 “You can go now too.” His gruff voice startles me. His unexpected words throw me. My temper simmers. I look over at him and can’t do anything other than shake my head in sputtering disbelief because his eyes are still closed.

I don't know where to start with this review. This book was so mysterious, thrilling, twisted and a real page-turner! I couldn't put this down, till the very end. And THE END of this book...oh my!

Aria, a struggling music student, just trying to make ends meet, comes across a "too-good, to be true" opportunity. And in one night, it changes her entire life. While I was reading this, I kept thinking--"What would I do? Do I just go for it? Is it really that easy?" And honestly, I think I would of I was in Aria's position. 

Needless to say, this opportunity that lands on Aria's lap is from the Midnight Society, a secret "club" that has the most wealthiest members.  I loved how you don't quite know exactly who this club is or what they really do. It keeps you guessing while reading it. And I love Aria's take on it--she is such a typical college girl, just wanting to get by in life and do the right thing. She said what was on her mind.

This one night of opportunity, turns into a life changing chain of events. Not only does she meet Shadow, a broken (and very mysterious) beautiful man, who changes her life, but she starts to live in a whole new world, where everything is handed to her.  I can't (I won't!) go in details of what happens, you just have to trust me and read it. Semblance takes you on a wild, mysterious ride with plenty of surprises. Again, the end blew my mind. I could not believe the Author went there! 

It does have a bit of a cliffhanger (which I am NOT a fan of), but it was a doable. It answered a little of my questions, but there is still so much more to learn.  I cannot wait till book 2 comes out! 

His presence cast a hush throughout the gardens. Shadow strolled towards the three women on their knees, stalking them with an animalistic grace. 

He was ominous, yet electrifying and I found myself trembling just standing in the same vicinity as he was. 

“Your bride awaits you Shadow,” Calisto said to her brother. I glanced around and noticed that everyone had their head bowed in reverence of this man. It was disconcerting and this made me panic. This had to be a cult; there was no other logical explanation in my mind. Any second now, this Shadow fellow was going to pass out the Kool-Aid and we were all going to drink it and die. 

There was still time for me to flee. I could pretend to use the bathroom and then sneak out the window or something. I had no idea where on the map this estate was, but that didn’t matter. I needed to escape and I could figure the rest out later. I looked around to see if anyone else was watching me. 

Damn it, indeed someone was. Calisto’s eyes were deadlocked onto me. I panicked and almost let loose a scream, but managed to contain myself. Thank God for the mask I was wearing, which hid the expressions on my face. Calisto smiled and winked at me, which I thought was a bizarre thing to do. I had no idea what was happening or what to expect, but I desperately wanted to be away from here.
