Dirty Charmer (Royally #5) by Emma Chase

Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say . . . stuffy. But it’s not her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco’s most affluent, aristocratic families—“stuffy” is their middle name. So is successful. Abby’s working overtime to distinguish herself as a top-notch surgeon, just as her family legacy demands.

She doesn’t have time for nonsense.

Tommy Sullivan’s all about nonsense.

Sure, he’s an elite bodyguard with lethal skills and co-owner of the renowned, S&S Securities Firm—protector of the wealthy and titled. But he’s also rowdy, fun and thoroughly irresistible.

Tommy knows how to have a good time, and he’s never seen someone more in need of a good time than Abby. The lass needs long, wet, filthy kisses—STAT—and he’s just the man for the job.

It doesn’t take long for a wildly sexy, sinfully satisfying, no-strings attached arrangement to turn into something more. Something sweet and addictive and real. But Tommy and Abby are too royally stubborn to admit it.

Opposites attract, everyone knows that. But can they last—can they love…for forever?

Abby

Me: Are you texting while you’re driving??
Apparently, Tommy and his bodyguard brethren are trained to text without actually having to look at their phones, so they can communicate covertly with the device in their pocket.
            But I’ve explained to him—at length—that that doesn’t matter worth a damn.
I’ve informed him of the overwhelming statistics on the dangers of texting while operating a vehicle and I’ve disclosed my firsthand experiences of seeing the deadly carnage of such behavior during my emergency room rotations.
And still, after a weighted pause, he replies:
            Godly Orgasm Giver      : Maybe.
            Me: Well, STOP IT!!
For a moment, the screen remains quiet . . . and then those sneaky little dots appear again.
Godly Orgasm Giver: I like it when you get all shouty caps at me—have I ever told you that?
I’m going to revisit the idea of Tommy teaching me how to throw a punch. It would come in handy at moments just like this.
“Is everything all right, Abby?” my mother asks. “You’re all flushed.”
She examines me above her glasses like I’m a bug under a microscope.
            “I . . .”
Grogg, the butler, bends down and dips his large, square head towards my grandmother.
“A gentleman is out front, Lady Agatha . . .”
            Oh no.
            “On a motorbike.”
            OH NOOOO.
“Well, send him away.” The Dowager Countess shoos her hand in the air, as countesses do. “We don’t accept solicitations.”
I scramble to my feet. “Actually, he’s here for me.”
I throw my tablet and phone and books into my satchel, to hasten my not-so-great escape.
            “Pardon?” my father inquires.
            “He?” my grandmother prods.
I swallow hard, rushing out the words. “Yes. He’s a friend. I messaged him for a lift.”
My brother Sterling’s eggs-Benedict-laden fork pauses midair on its way to his mouth.
“I didn’t know you had the sort of friends who road motorbikes.”
“I didn’t know you had friends,” my sister Athena comments, not in a cruel way, but with sincere surprise.
I shrug, looping the strap of my satchel over my shoulder.
            “Yes, well . . . you know . . .”
With that brilliant retort, I turn and walk out of the room.
I head towards the foyer, the heels of my knee-high boots clicking rapidly on the marble floor like a ticking time bomb. I yank open the giant front door and . . . come to an immediate stop on the veranda outside of it.
Because Tommy’s there, down the long gray steps on the front drive, sitting easily astride a shiny contraption of chrome and steel, wearing work boots, snug blue jeans and a black leather jacket—looking so sinfully good it might actually be illegal.
I have to remind myself that I’m angry with him, and when I do, I march straight down the steps. His eyes alight on my boots, skirt and light gray sweater—the ensemble gives off an unintended “naughty schoolteacher” feel—and the corner of Tommy’s wicked mouth hooks up accordingly.
            “Hello, sweetheart.”
            “Are you mad?!”
He takes a moment to think it over.
“Not the last time I checked.”
“What are you doing here?” I hold out my hands. “And what is this?”
            “It’s a motorbike.”
            “It’s death on wheels.”
He chuckles. “James loaned it to me for the day. The hills are beautiful this time of year—I thought we’d take a ride together. You wanted stress relief, didn’t you?” Tommy taps the shiny handlebar. “A ride on this is as stress-relieving as it gets—better than normal-bloke sex.”
I peer at him. Do I want to know?
Apparently I do, because I hear myself asking, “Normal-bloke sex?”
“Yeah.” He winks. “I mean it’s not better than how I do it—obviously. But the way an average bloke has sex—this is definitely better.”
I shake my head, folding my arms. “Do you have any idea how dangerous these things are? The statistics on motorbike fatalities are—”
Tommy covers my mouth with his hand.
His palm is warm, and so is his voice—a thick, sweet, honeyed tone.
            “Do you trust me, Abby?”
After a moment, he takes his hand away and I gaze into those deep, dark eyes . . . falling into them so easily it should be frightening.
My answer is simple. True ones always are.
            “I do.”
Tommy smiles fully, and my stomach flutters with that lovely swirling sensation.
            “Then climb on.”
He places a helmet on my head, buckling the strap under my chin.
“And you might want to do it fast—your granny’s coming.”
I glance over my shoulder to see the whole family gathered outside the front of the door, a spectrum of curious and gob-smacked expressions plastered on their typically reserved faces. And my grandmother is indeed headed this way, her jeweled necklace jingling as she quickly descends the long slope of stone steps.
            “Abigail!”
Her voice is high-pitched and harried—a tone I’ve never heard her use before, and one I’m not keen on exploring now.
“Have to be going!” I lift my hand and give them a thumbs-up. “Talk soon!”
Like a teenager running off with the town bad boy, I hike up my skirt and climb onto the motorbike behind Tommy. He clasps my hands together securely over his stomach.
            “Hold on tight, lass.”
I do just that—squeezing my arms around his solid frame and resting my cheek against the warm leather on his back as he revs the engine to life and we pull away with a roar that vibrates in my bones.
And as strange as it is—or maybe it’s not strange at all—I’ve never felt safer.

Ms. Chase is the master of humorous and sexy reads that keep you reading to the very end, and Dirty Charmer is no different. This books has the elements of charm and hot chemistry between the characters of Abigail and Tommy!

Abigail is an overachiever, who is determined to be the best surgeon. She's brilliant at what she does, but...she lacks fun. She lacks spontaneity. She lacks a personal life.
And that's when Tommy Sullivan comes in, a confident and sexy bodyguard, who is not afraid and is more then willing to open up the beautiful Abigail's mind and life! These two couldn't be more opposite and come different worlds, but their chemistry is way too tight to not explore.

Tommy and Abby wind up in a mutually agreed upon ”no strings attached” arrangement. They both get swept up in a hot and steamy affair in which deep feelings develop between them. But will she be able to go back to her lackluster life once the affair is over, or will she realize before it’s too late that she needs the excitement that being with Tommy has brought into her world? Another fantastic read!

I stared dully at my painting. My creative mood had left the building, under the weight of the many questions going around and around in my head. Adrenaline made it hard for me to sit still. Cursing Jamie under my breath, I grabbed my laundry basket and headed toward the front door. Peering through the peephole, I double-checked his door was shut before I left my apartment. Glowering at his door as I passed, I hurried downstairs. How the hell had he maneuvered himself into my building? And why?
To my gratitude, the laundry room was empty as I crashed around inside it. I hauled out my stash of detergent and softener from my allocated locker and started separating my whites. That rat bastard. My heart raced, sweat gathered under my arms, and it agitated me. An encounter with Jamie was the equivalent of fifteen shots of caffeine.
And I hated that he knew I was lying to Asher. Something he could easily hold over my head.
“You are a very angry laundry doer.”
Jamie’s deep, rich voice startled me. Trying to control my breathing, I glared over at him standing in the doorway. Arms and ankles crossed as he leaned casually against the jamb. He wore a T-shirt and jeans. Nothing had changed there.
He was still the sexiest man I’d ever seen.
God, I hate him.
“What the hell are you doing in this building?” I turned my back on him, marching over to the stacked washers and dryers.
“I had no idea you lived here,” he lied, his voice growing closer as he crossed the room toward me.
Attempting not to react physically, to not hunch my shoulders in tension, I stared unseeing at the machines. What was I in the middle of doing again?
“What a surprise to find out you’re my neighbor.”
I snorted in disbelief and turned around, shocked to find him already in my personal space. “Liar.” I dragged my gaze insolently down his body and back up. “Move away. And I mean that in more ways than one.”
“Oh, does my presence bother you?” His wicked smile caused somersaults in my belly.
“What are you doing here?” I ignored his proximity. Okay, I tried to ignore his proximity.
In answer, he stepped into me and I stumbled against the machines at my back. Jamie pressed the palms of his hands on the dryer, caging me in. My breath caught and held as his scent flooded me. That dark, earthy scent was enticing, and my body betrayed my emotions.
Feeling panic rise, I pushed at his chest, but he wouldn’t budge. “Jamie?”
Those ocean eyes wandered over my face, cold, calculating. “He doesn’t know who I am. You haven’t told him.”
I lowered my hands. Touching him was even more discombobulating. “No.”
He bent his head toward mine until our noses almost touched. I sucked in a breath. “I wonder why you’re keeping it from him?”
Determined not to let him see how much he affected me, I glared up at him. He’d only have to touch me, hold my hand, to realize I was trembling. His face was so familiar. His lips were lips I’d thought I’d kiss for the rest of my life. Why did the pain of it never dull? Why did it still feel like a shard of glass through my chest? “Did you leak those tapes of Foster Steadman to Asher’s mom?”
Something menacing flashed in his eyes before he banked it. “And if I did?”
“Are you being smart, Jamie?”
“Are you asking out of concern for me or for your billionaire boy toy?”
“Jamie.”
“Never mind. I don’t care.” The bastard dipped his nose to my throat, and I tensed against the stacked machines. He inhaled, his nose brushing my skin, and my fingers bit into the washer behind me. “You smell different,” he whispered, lifting his head to my ear. “Expensive perfume. You’ve come up in the world.”
I felt his breath caress my skin seconds before his teeth touched my earlobe. Gasping, I instinctively pushed my palms against his stomach as he bit down hard, causing a flush of heat between my legs.
With a dark chuckle, Jamie released my ear after one last nibble and whispered, “Is he the jealous type, Jane?”

4.5 Stars

I didn't know what to expect from this book. The synopsis is vague, but I was so intrigued and couldn't put this book down once I started. I literally read this entire book in one night. There are two parts of this book - part one which tells the story of how these complex characters became friends growing up - Jane Doe, is no stranger of not having a family - she's been bounced from foster home to foster home all her life. So when she meets Lorna and her siblings - she finally feels at home. Part one was wow, but when you reach part two of this book - wowza. It was not what I expected.

I will not retell or spoil in part of this book, but will say Black Tangled, is captivating from the beginning to the very end and a must read that is heartbreaking and suspenseful.
The story telling by Ms. Young is fantastic and one of her best books to date.

Wylde (Arizona Vengeance #7) by Sawyer Bennett

There’s a reason they call me Wylde and it’s not just because it’s my last name.

I might be one of the newest players on the Arizona Vengeance team, but I’m no stranger to the celebrity that goes along with being a professional hockey player. Whether it’s a fan seeking an autograph or a puck bunny looking for more, I’ve grown used to the attention. I not only thrive on it; I use it to my advantage. Let’s just say my bed is rarely empty.

When a quirky redhead at the local bookstore stops me dead in my tracks, I decide to pop in and turn on the trusty Wylde magic. As smart and strong-willed as she is beautiful, Clarke Webber isn’t swayed by my witty banter or charming good looks. And when she realizes who I am and the fame that comes along with it, she likes me even less. Thankfully, I’m always up for a challenge. The more I get to know about her, the more I know my playboy days are behind me.

If I’m going to capture Clarke’s heart, it’s time to be a lot less Wylde, and a lot more Aaron.

Another fantastic read in this series. Ms. Bennett continues to keep the Arizona Vengeance series alive with these characters. Aaron Wylde is one of the hottest NHL star and they call him "Wylde" for a reason - he's just living his best life - hockey career, money, fame and living the playboy life with hockey bunnies.

But it changes when he meets the quiet, shy, book store owner, Clarke Webber. Clarke is happy selling and reading her books, she doesn't need Aaron or any cocky men in her life. But there is a persistence about Aaron Wylde, that has Clarke intrigued.  And he's not what she expected of him.

Stone Princess (Tin Gypsy #3) by Devney Perry

Presley Marks has just become a cliché: the jilted bride. Wearing a white dress, standing in front of her friends and family, she announces that her fiancé—according to his text—has forgotten about the wedding.

Humiliated and angry, she hides from the world in the mundane routine of her life. Working at the Clifton Forge Garage isn’t glamorous, but it’s safe from the spotlight.

At least it was, until Shaw Valance comes to town.

The notorious Hollywood actor is starring in a movie based on the town’s infamous murder. When he’s not on set, Shaw hovers at the garage, watching as they build his custom motorcycle and irritating her with his handsome smile. He was supposed to leave once filming wrapped and go back to his fancy life, not buy the house next door.

But Shaw might regret that purchase once Presley’s ex-fiancé returns, bringing with him a war between old rivals that could burn both their houses down.

My realtor would have earned a higher commission if she had mentioned that the woman who lived next door was Presley Marks. “Isn’t this a surprise?”

“Is it?” Presley asked, frowning as I descended my steps and crossed the lawn, meeting her in her driveway. She raised a dark blond eyebrow. “Because it sort of feels like stalking.”

I chuckled. “I swear I had no idea you lived next door.”

But what a bonus. I wouldn’t have to make excuses to stop by the garage to see her. She could tear that insurance waiver to shreds. Presley had to know I didn’t give a damn about that bike they were building for me.

“You bought this house?”

“Yeah.” I reached for the grocery bags she had in her hands. “Here, let me help.”
She twisted away. “I’ve got them.”

“Come on.” I stepped forward and she took a step back. Wait, did she really think I was stalking her? “I’m just trying to help. I mean, I’ll probably start writing down your daily schedule so I can make sure our paths cross at least once a day. But that’s normal, right? For stalkers?”

“Are you being funny?”

My smile flattened. “I guess not.”

I can't get enough of this series. The Tin Gpysy series gets better and better with each book. And in Stone Princess, we get Presely Mark's story. She's the fiesty Office Manager at Clifton Forge Garage and protected by the men who work there!

Presely was stood up at the alter - I think deep down, she knew marrying her fiance wasn't the right thing for her. But now that she's single, despite being hurt and humiliated, Presely is determined to move on with her life.

The town of Clifton Forge had its shares of crime and murder -  and it brought its attention to Hollywood. Making the movie about what happened with Drake and Genevieve's mother is now the talk of the town. Shaw Valance, Hollywood's "It Star" and his film crew comes into town to film about the murder. And Presely and the others are not thrilled that its happening, because all the hurt will resurface for those who were involved of the crime.

Shaw Valance wants nothing more than to make sure his debut film will be authentic as possible. So when he enters the Clifton Forge Garage, he was not expecting Presely, who absolutely wants nothing to do with the heartthrob. There's something about this woman that intrigues him.

Shaw doesn't give up. The last thing Presely wants to do is start more rumors in town by getting involved with Shaw. But his constant showing up wherever she is - home, work... so she can't help but fall a little more.

Stone Princess is another hit filled with suspense, romance and humor. These two have a fun banter throughout the book and a fabulous epilogue at the end. Again, also looking forward for more in this series!

Rafe: (Arizona Vengeance #6.5) by Sawyer Bennett

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett comes a new story in her Arizona Vengeance series…

I was living my dream until one phone call changed everything.

As the second line center for the Arizona Vengeance, my mind has been on one thing—helping my team bring home a championship. But that all changed when I found out my dad had cancer and only months to live. In that moment, nothing mattered more than getting home to North Carolina to be by his side. That meant asking for the unthinkable—a trade to the Carolina Cold Fury.

Now I’m home and when I’m not on the ice with my new team, I’m helping care for my dad. And in the midst of my grief, I find comfort from the one person I never expected.

Calliope Ramirez stole my heart at a very young age. The beautiful, smart, headstrong girl next door, she was my first… everything. She has never forgiven me for leaving her, believing that I chose hockey over a future together. What she doesn’t understand is that every decision I made was for her, and I’ve never given up hope that one day we’d be together again.

Watching my dad slip away is a harsh reminder of how short life can be, and having Callie by my side makes me realize I was a damn fool before. That changes starting right now. Calliope Ramirez is mine and I’m not going to waste the second chance that I’ve been given.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Another fantastic read by Ms. Bennett. We got a sneak peak of Rafe and his family emergency from the last book in the series. Now we follow Rafe back home, with a new hockey team, and trying to make amends with an ex, who he still had regrets for hurting her.

Rafe Simmons is one of the hottest NHL star, he's on a winning team, but it all changes when his father gets ill and he needs to go home to be by his side. The Arizona Vengeance was able to trade him, so he can return back to North Carolina and get on the rooster for The Cold Fury team. But being back home and making amends with his father and ex isn't going to be easy.

Calliope "Poppy" Rameriez has moved on with her life after Rafe left for the pros. But she's still very close to his parents and when Rafe returns home, she's determine to keep her distance. Rafe was a huge part of Poppy's life growing up and they were going to make it work, when he got drafted, but Rafe left her.

As, Rafe's father takes the turn for the worse, Poppy seems to be there for him and his family. He no doubts still loves her, but trying to gain her trust back isn't easy

This book is filled with heartache and second chances and I loved every page. Perfect quick read in this series.
